A Letter From Prince Liang II

Comrade,

A storm gathers here in Medea. Dark clouds hang perpetually in the sky, bringing forth an overcast gloom of depression's shadow. The seas have been increasingly difficult to navigate thus the merchant fleets and fishing vessels remain anchored in our great harbor awaiting clearer skies and calmer waters. To some, the storm is a major setback to their only livelihoods but, to many, it is a portent of darker tidings yet forthcoming.

The Steel Mountain's legion has begun its march, and already, numerous towns and villages were, at the most fortunate, occupied and garrisoned. Those not as propitious were subject to sacking and burning, the poor townsfolk taken in as slaves. The Medean Guard suffered loss after loss at the hands of the elite imperial troops. What was once an army two thousand strong is now decimated by half. They have retreated into the gates of the capital, awaiting the day that the legion comes forth. Awaiting the final battle that will decide the fate of our kingdom. Nevertheless, they are ready.

I sometimes pray to the spirit of my long dead father for guidance. Alas, he answers me and he gives me sound advice and reassurance.  He comes to me during the night; his smile is the well where I draw my courage and temperance in these times of tribulation.

I also take great comfort in the loyalty of my ministers; they too stand united now behind the throne. I commend the courage of Daigoro, the minister of internal affairs, If not for him, I would have been felled by an assassin's blade. He took the stab for me and fought the poison. Such bravery is what our people should look up to in these troubled times. The assassin was caught but, alas, in a show of loyalty to his hidden masters, took his gladius to his throat.

 I am now ever vigilant.

Dark times, indeed. But let not the somber tone of my letter bring your spirits down. We are Medean, we have come from a long line of warriors who could proudly trace its lineage back to the glory of the First Age. Let the forces of the Scarlet Empire come and we will give them their fight. Let the dread Steel Mountain march into our capital and he shall know humility. This storm shall pass and the light will, once more , gloriously shine through.

 Let them come.

 We are waiting

 We will win.

Prince Liang II, Grand Sovereign of the Resplendent Phoenix Court

A Mysterious Letter to the Dragon Blood Outcaste Cade

Brother Bloodwarder,

Greetings! I bring good tidings from the Court of the Resplendent Phoenix. All is well for we are blessed by the master. Everything is proceeding as planned.

From the Wretched Isle, the Dynasts come with their legion to sow terror unto Medea. Their merciless general, Cathak Tsuneo has started to mobilize his troops and, already , dozens of villages have been sacked. soon they will march to the capital and I will personally hand over the brat Prince Liang. In the central forests, our cultists flourish; they have sown the seeds of discord. A rebellion of peasants have started and soldiers of the Medean Guard perish against the sickle and spear of these wretches

In the wake of this chaos, we the Bloodwarders, stand united and organized for the first time under commanders who know battle. Soon our army shall issue forth and, soon, their armies will disperse like blood in water. We will crush them, squeeze the life from them, claw, tear, and devour them.

Beware though, for forces are conspiring against us. As you read this letter, the Prince has sent an emissary to the court of Nobutai to lift the ban from Ojah. The warlord is dangerous, he alone is not subject to our machinations and plans for he bears knowledge of the past concealed. Find the emissary of Liang and slay him before it is too late.

I do have another task at hand for you.

You must send the Nemissary to Nobutai and acquire twenty slaves of Medean stock. After the slaves have been delivered to Ylarin, you will shortly be contacted by an agent of the Bandit Jigensu, he would instruct you on what to do next. I give you a months time to fulfill this task. Take heed though, agents of the Immaculate Order are about. Do not fail us, Cade.

They are weak.

We are strong.

They must bow to us, or die.

It is that simple.

Yours in the Blood,
